Understanding Medicare 2010:
The Kenosha County Benefit Specialist Program’s monthly Medicare workshop is called "Understanding Medicare 2010". The workshop offers a basic over view of Original Medicare, as well as other health and prescription drug coverage options. You will learn how to read and understand a Medicare summary notice and how to file an appeal. It also covers other helpful benefits you may be eligible for.

Seating is limited to 25 persons and is for Kenosha County residents. Reservations are required for seating and handouts. Please call the Aging & Disability Resource Center at 605-6646 or 1-800-472-8008 to reserve your spot.


Senior Statesmanship Program
The Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups is holding its next Senior Statesmanship training on April 19-22.  Each year since 1980 older persons from throughout the state learn about the operation of Wisconsin state government and the role they can play in forming good public policy.  Senior Statesmanship graduates leave the program with the skills of being effective advocates and leaders. They learn about things such as:

The cost of the Senior Statesmanship Program is $475 per person including 3 nights lodging at the Inn on the Park, 4 meals and training materials.  Scholarships are available from the Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources.  Contact Sarah Cowen at 608-224-6300 for scholarship information and an application. Older American’s Month Celebration – May 2010
On Thursday, May 20, 2010 the Kenosha County Aging and Disability Resource Center, together with other businesses and organizations will be hosting the Annual Older American’s Month Celebration: Celebrating our Heritage, Leaving a Legacy.

The Kenosha County Aging and Disability Resource Center will be hosting an informational arthritis event at the public museum. Dr. Lutes, orthopedic surgeon, will be discussing Current Treatment Options for Hip & Knee Arthritis.
