Career Opportunities - Activity Aide
General Statement of Duties: Conducts general recreational and diversional programs for residents.
Distinguishing features of the class: An employee in this class participates in organizing and conducting activities that meet the physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of our clients.
Examples of Work (Illustrative only)
- Plan, organize and carry out activities and programs, which may include: crafts, exercise, sensory stimulation, music and workshops.
- Plan community outings and operate facilities bus.
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living.
- Keep daily records and participate within interdisciplinary team.
- Motivates residents to participate in activity programs.
- Does related work as required.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of recreational activity techniques and practices.
- Ability to work with and obtain the cooperation of residents engaged in recreational activities.
- Ability to lead and instruct residents in diverse activities.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to keep records and makes reports.
- Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
- Physical condition necessary to perform the job.
Training and Experience: Graduation from high school and completion of Associate Degree Program for Occupational Therapy Assistant. Experience in working in recreational activities or the elderly preferably as a Nurses Aide or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skill and abilities.
