Career Opportunities - Certified Nursing Assistant
General Statement of Duties: Performs a variety of routine duties relating to personal care of residents.
Distinguishing features of the class: This is a Certified Nursing Assistant classification, involving the care of residents on an assigned shift. Work is performed in accordance with prescribed methods & techniques. Supervision is received from an RN or LPN.
Essential Job Functions
- Bathes, dresses residents & attends to other personal & grooming needs such as combing hair, brushing teeth, reading mail, etc.
- Cleans, disinfects equipment.
- Reports any changes in residents' behavior or health to nurse promptly.
- Assist with lifting & repositioning residents.
- Passes food trays, sets up trays and feeds residents as needed.
- Takes linens, personal clothing, incontinent products to proper receptacle.
- Walks & exercises residents as directed; escorts to activities, dining areas, etc.
- Answers call lights, gives back rubs.
- Makes room checks observing for any change in condition & reports to nurse promptly.
- Strips beds & changes soiled linen.
- Cleans & disinfects wheelchairs, walkers, commodes, as needed. Cleans up after resident accidents.
- Does related work as required.
Qualifications:
- Position require a significant amount of standing, walking, sitting, pushing pulling, stooping, crouching, reaching, communicating with co- workers & residents, and lifting & carrying a range of weight up to 55 pounds;
- Knowledge of nursing aide practices;
- Knowledge of health care sanitation, standard precautions, hygiene, and medical treatment;
- Ability to understand & carry out detailed oral & written instructions;
- Ability to perform manual tasks associated with the personal care & hygiene of the residents;
- Ability to get along with the professional staff & residents;
- Possession of a certificate as a C.N.A.
Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent & completion of a certified nurse aide course and on Wisconsin Registry.
