Brookside Care Center offers the following services to its residents.
Activity Services
The activity department is lead by a full time Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist and has a support staff of four full time and three part time activity aides. We offer programs and activities that are mentally, physically, socially and spiritually stimulating. Residents are individually assessed to determine their unique leisure interests and then given the opportunity to pursue their goals. Residents have the chance to re-enter the community with weekly outings, enjoy monthly entertainment, challenge themselves on our computers or play a friendly game of bingo. Whatever your leisure interest may be, the Brookside activity department will do its best to achieve your expectations.
Business Office
Brookside Care Center’s business department offers residents and their families a host of services in its eclectic daily routine. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 p.m.
Full service banking available for the residents includes: daily deposits and withdrawals from their individual account; direct deposits for social security, veterans, pension or any other monthly sources of income; and paying monthly bills (i.e. telephone, cable and insurance premiums). Arrangements can be made for the beautician and barber’s services.
The Financial Services office includes billing for Medicare; Medicaid and private pay residents. Secondary insurance is billed for the residents, as well. Direct deposit is available for the convenience of residents and their families. The finance office offers assistance to residents, family members, and guardians with paperwork whenever needed.
Dietary Services
The dietary department is dedicated to providing excellence in food and service to our customers. We serve breakfast, dinner and supper 365 days a year. On holidays we always prepare something extra special for everyone to enjoy. We also offer nutritious snacks throughout the day.
Your physician orders the type of diet and a dietitian plans your meals. You will be interviewed within a few days of admission by the dietitian and asked for your food preferences. Meals will be specialized to meet individual needs.
We have two beautiful dining rooms to enjoy your meals. Your family may dine with you for any meal. Ask your nurse or the dietitian for information on scheduling and the cost. Quality food and customer service is the foundation of Brookside's dietary services.
Environmental Services
Brookside’s Housekeeping Department consists of eleven dedicated employees who involve themselves in many aspects of daily life with our residents. Fond relationships are formed with the day to day presence of a housekeeper in their “home”. Using up to date cleaning methods and chemicals, our facility is the “cleanest” and “safest” around, yet, it is not uncommon to walk by a room and see a resident and housekeeper sharing a story or reminiscing over a picture. Housekeeping is the connecting link between the different departments who serve our customers, our residents.
The Maintenance Department at Brookside employs three talented, caring people who keep everything running smoothly. From simple things like programming a TV remote, to hanging pictures, to operation of our boilers, our Maintenance folks do it all. All of them have Class C boiler licenses and are qualified to do carpentry; plumbing, A/C work and the grounds care for our 24 wooded acres. The Maintenance Department is the mortar between the blocks for this beautiful facility.
Brookside’s Laundry has 5 employees working early morning hours Monday through Friday. We process personal clothing for 154 residents and the “house” linen for the day to day nursing care and well being of our residents. On an average, we wash, dry and fold 104,000 pounds of laundry per year. We deliver clean personal clothing back to the resident rooms Monday through Friday right after the noon hour. With huge institutional equipment, special care is given to make sure our laundry stays as close as possible in line with results you would get at home.
Nursing Services
Our nurses provide the following services:
- 24-hour registered nurse care
- Pain management
- Restorative care
- Internal care
- Respiratory care
- Wound care
- Intravenous therapy
- Post surgical care
The cornerstone of our service is the interdisciplinary approach we take to managing the care of our residents. Every resident is evaluated and cared for by a team of professionals using an individualized care plan.
Social Services
The guiding philosophy of the Social Service Department is based on the principles stated in the Resident Bill of Rights and the true respect for human dignity and uniqueness. The two licensed social workers are available to provide services designed to identify and meet the social and emotional needs of each resident. We assist each resident and family to adjust to the effects of the illness or disability, treatment, and stay in the facility. In addition, we assure adequate discharge planning and the appropriate use of community social and health resources.
