Photo: A Child's PlaceWelcome to A Child’s Place! We look forward to providing a cheerful, safe and fun learning environment for children. Recognizing that children learn through play, A Child’s Place provides an enriching and nurturing environment promoting physical, social, emotional and cognitive development.

Purpose
A Child’s Place supports parents’ transition to employment. The state-licensed facility serves children age birth through 12 years, of parents who are using Job Center programs and services while they seek employment,
attend training activities or appointments, and begin employment. These parents can be on-site or off-site. Children attending the on-site Head Start program and their siblings may also enroll.

Hours
Short and long-term child care is provided from 6:30 a.m. until 5:30 (or 6:00) p.m., Monday through Friday, based on the needs of regularly scheduled Job Center participant families. Drop-off care is available from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. during Job Center business hours.

Enrollment
Enrollment is on a first come/first serve basis. Parents are encouraged to make a reservation for child care whenever possible. Child Care Attendance Request forms are located at the enrollment desk. These requests must be confirmed for the reservation to be complete. Parents must be prepared to supply the appropriate information including emergency contacts, addresses and phone numbers, physician information, a health history, birth dates, social security numbers, allergies, special instructions and the parent’s location and activity each day.

Meals and Supplies
A Child’s Place provides nutritious morning and afternoon snacks and milk for lunch. Parents are asked to bring a nutritious lunch (breakfast if arriving before 7:00 a.m.), diapers, wipes, colder weather apparel and necessary extra clothing for their child. Parents must also provide infant and toddler foods and formula. Children may bring a blanket from home for naptime.

Fees
Families who are participating in W-2 related Job Center programs and activities and using the center for short term or drop-off child care, may use A Child’s Place free of charge. Participants using the center longer term may qualify for W-2 child care and pay a co-pay. A few participants from the community may be charged an hourly or weekly fee for using the center.
