How much is the H1N1 vaccine?
- The H1N1 vaccine will be free of charge at community clinics. Private providers may be billing or charging.
If I live in Racine, can I attend vaccination clinics in Kenosha?
- Clinics are intended for Kenosha County residents. Everyone is encouraged to attend clinics in their county/jurisdiction. Vaccination distribution is population-based.
Will IDs be checked at the clinic?
- IDs will not be checked at the clinic but everyone is encouraged to attend clinics in their county/jurisdiction.
If I have influenza-like illness, can I attend a vaccination clinic?
- Ill individuals will not be allowed to receive the H1N1 vaccine (must be free of fever).
- Ill individuals are encouraged to wait until symptoms have subsided before attending a clinic.
Is the H1N1 vaccine 2 doses or 1?
- CDC recommends that children nine and younger receive two doses of H1N1 flu vaccine, which should be separated by one month.
- Infants younger than 6 months are too young to get the H1N1 flu and seasonal flu vaccines.
How long do I have to wait after receiving the seasonal flu vaccine to receive the H1N1 vaccine?
- Injectable H1N1 vaccine can be administered at the same time as the seasonal flu vaccine.
- Flu Mist H1N1 vaccine has to be administered at least 4 weeks after the Flu Mist seasonal flu vaccine.
- Flu Mist H1N1 vaccine has to be administered at least 4 weeks after the Flu Mist H1N1 flu vaccine.
Is the H1N1 vaccine safe?
- The vaccine is safe and effective.
- The H1N1 flu vaccine is produced exactly the same way the seasonal flu vaccine is produced every year. It is simply a new virus strain.
Do pregnant women need a doctor’s order for the H1N1 vaccine?
- Pregnant women do not need a doctor’s order to receive the H1N1 vaccine.
Can breastfeeding women receive the H1N1 vaccine?
- Yes they can.
What should I bring with me to the clinic?
- Please bring a completed H1N1 vaccine consent form with you to the clinics. The consent form can be found on the KCDOH website.
- Bring your child’s immunization records.
- Parents/guardians must attend or sign a release for another adult to bring their child to the clinic. The release form can be found on the website.
